Kimberly Kavanagh is a singer-songwriter and guitarist performing under the name Sassafras. Her music blends acoustic folk, pop, and rock influences, often exploring themes of love and loss. Kim has over 60 minutes of original material and has recently been performing at the Dewdney Pub's Thursday open mic in Mission BC, aiming to share her songs with wider audiences.
She earned her Certificate of Music from Douglas College in 1987. From 1987 to 1990, Kim toured British Columbia in a cover band.
In 1990, she formed the indie rock band N.O.S.. They played extensively around Vancouver and toured across Canada in 1992 to support their second album. Notable highlights include:

Throughout the 1990s and 2000s, she continued playing music in informal jam sessions with friends.
In 2008, Kim won a People's Choice Award for the video game music she composed for The Meadow, a children's software title developed by her own company.
From 2010 to 2016, she served as a church band leader in Port Coquitlam.
Between 2015 and 2018, Kim regularly streamed her guitar performances and original songs online via Twitch and YouTube. At her peak in 2017, she had an audience of approximately 2,000 viewers.
